Mexico City, 2023–ongoing
Drama is a photography vitrine curated by César González-Aguirre, located in the Pasaje Savoy in the heart of Mexico City. The passage is known for its chaotic atmosphere, both visually and experientially, rich in vernacular references and sensory stimuli. These conditions were central to the development of the project’s graphic identity.
Responding to the eclectic visual language of Mexico City’s historic center, the logotype for Drama was drawn letter by letter, with each character developing its own formal qualities. Several of these forms, particularly the r, a, and m, were inspired by the eyebrows and other iconic features of Mexican divas such as María Félix, “La Doña.”
Like the exhibitions it presents and the constantly shifting energy of the Pasaje Savoy itself, Drama’s visual identity is conceived as a system in continuous transformation.
